Alföldi, Róbert

Information

Róbert Alföldi (born 1967) studied at the Mihála Horváth Theatre school, and in 1991 graduated in acting from
the National Academy of Dramatic and Cinematographic Art in Budapest. He attracted attention as Raskolnikov
in Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment (1991); there then followed roles such as Puck (A Midsummer Night’s Dream),
Romeo (Romeo and Juliet), Andrei Bolkonsky (War and Peace), Amadeus (Amadeus), Iago (Othello) and others.
Since 1995 he has worked as a director, starting with his own adaptation of Tristan and Isolde. He has appeared at
the Divadlo festival in past years with productions of The Merchant of Venice, The Robbers, Macbeth and 120 Days
of the Marquis de Sade. As both an actor and director he has won numerous domestic and international awards.
