Árpád Schilling (*1974) entered the theatre world at the beginning of the 1990s as an actor. In 1995 he founded Krétakör Szinház and between 1995 and 2000 he studied directing at the Academy of Film and Theatre Arts. In 1999 he won the Hungarian Theatre Critics Award as the most promising young director. Shilling's most important productions include "Liliom" by Ferenc Molnár (Academy of Film and Theatre Arts, 1999), which won the Award of the City at the Contact Festival 2001 in Torun, Poland, and in the same year the principal award at the Hungarian Festival of Theatre Studies. His production of István Tasnádi's drama "Public Enemy" (Jószef Katona Színház, 1999) then won the Critics' Prize for the best contemporary Hungarian drama.
