Ondrej Šoth (1960) – Graduate of choreography and dance direction at VŠMU in Bratislava. In addition, he graduated from Ladislav Fialka and Marcel Marceau’s International Pantomime Course, and undertook several study stays. He taught at the VŠMU in Bratislava, at AMU in Prague and at the Conservatory, and led courses in movement theatre in Poland, Belgium and France. As a choreograph he worked in Pavel Šmok’s Prague Chamber Ballet, 1985 till 1989 in the
Laterna Magika, and also in the Slovak National Theatre and for the Arts Concerts Munich. From 1994 to 1998 he was head of the ballet company in the City Theatre of Ústí nad Labem. From 2000 he led the ballet company in the State Theatre at Košice. In 2010–2011 he held the position of general director of the Slovak National Theatre. He also worked in foreign theatres for almost twenty years. His choreography includes both classic ballet works and modern dance projects. In the Košice ballet production of "The Little Prince" he was the first in Slovakia to use the principle of the laterna magika. In his work he inclines towards modern forms of dance art, putting an emphasis on the psychology of the characters and detailed sketches of them, and on the verisimilitude of situations. The motto of his work is the inner life of man.
