Information

Oskaras Korsunovas was born in Vilius in 1969. He studied at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. He was twenty when he staged his first performance at the National Theatre of Lithuania. His major works include "Hello Sonya", "New Year" by Alexandre Vvedensky and "Roberto Zucco" by Bernard-Marie Kiltes. In 1998, with the support of the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture he founded Oskaro Korsunovo Teatras (The Oskaras Korsunovas Theatre). He typically stages three productions a season. He also works in other countries: in 2001 he staged "Sanatorium under the Sign of the Hourglass" by Bruno Schulz at the Warsaw Theatre Studio. In April 2001 he staged "We are not cookies" based on works by the Russian avant-garde writers Alexandre Vvédensky and Daniel Charms at the National Theatre Studio in Lslo. In June 2003 he staged "Romeo and Juliet" at the Hebbel Theatre in Berlin. In 2001, Oskaras Korsunovas was awarded the "Europe Prize New Theatrical Realities" in Taormina.
