Information

Jan Komárek studied at the Acadamy of Applied Arts and worked as a trainee in the DRAK puppet theatre in Hradec Králové. Lived in France, where he founded the amateur puppet theatre MIMO Theatre and performed as a clown and puppeteer in productions for children and adults. In 1988 he co-founded the auteur-style art theatre SOUND IMAGE THEATRE. He has worked as a lighting designer for theatre and dance companies in Toronto and Montreal and has won several prestigious awards. He currently lives in Praque and devotes himself to auteur projects - Prostory ve tmě (Spaces in the Dark), Stiny soch (Shadows of Statues), Das Martyrium, Memento mori etc., directing and lighting design.
