Radovan Lipus (b.1966) – Director, playwright and author. Studied direction at DAMU in Prague. After a year as an assistant in the Drama Club theatre in Prague, he went to Ostrava in 1992, staying there until 2008 as a director in the drama section of the National Theatre of Moravia-Silesia. He worked as a guest director in the Aréna Chamber Theatre and the Puppet Theatre, both in Ostrava, at the National Theatre in Prague and Brno, the Těšín Theatre, the Moravian Theatre in Olomouc, the ABC Theatre, the Vinohrady Theatre, the Slovácko Theatre in Uherské Hradiště and others. He is the author, screenwriter and director of the popular television project Šumná města (Street Movie), looking at modern architecture in Czech cities. Lipus also writes prose and columns, and played a major part in the preparatory team for Ostrava's bid to be European Capital of Culture in 2015. He teaches at Ostrava University and also works at the research centre of the Prague School of Performing Arts (AMU).
