Maria Grazia Garofoli received her diploma at a very early age from the National Academy of Dance and began her artistic career interpreting the most important roles from the classical repertoire as the prima ballerina at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna. She has been a guest at the most prestigious theatres in Europe, the United States, Canada and Latin America, besides partners who can also boast international fame like Rudolf Nureyev, Cyril Atanassof, Dan Moisev and Rudy Brian. She has been particularly recognised for her interpretation of the most important works of the contemporary choreographers like Béjart, Balanchine, Poljakov, Misckovic, Lifar and Lacotte, who have become points of reference for modern dance. In her career, Maria Grazia Garofoli has obtained numerous and important acknowledgements on a national and international level and became a member of the Accademia Medicea in Florence. She has been Director of the Corps de Ballet of the Arena di Verona Foundation since 1999, during which time she has worked on the choreography for Coppelia, Giselle and the dramaturgy for I Due gentiluomini di Verona.
