(Duisburg/ Germany, 1972) followed her dance education at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam and Fontys Dance-academy in Tilburg. She has been active as a freelance choreographer since 1998. Pia's productions have been commissioned by various production companies and dance groups in The Netherlands. In 2002 Pia formed her own company, Panama Pictures, under which she continues to make productions and co-productions. The company's work includes: Unmade Beds, Newbodies, Odd, Go tell the women (we're leaving) and Nude. From 2009 until 2012 Pia Meuthen/Panama Pictures is resident choreographer at Danshuis Station Zuid. Since 2005 she is also guest teacher at the Fontys Dance-academy.Her performance Unmade Beds was nominated for the VSCD dance prize for the best production of the year 2005. Odd, Pia's choreography for 2movedancecompany, was selected for the DanceClick tour 6. In 2008 she was invited by Springdance to take part in The Springdance Talent Program in Nottingham.n the same year she was selected to participate in The Big Intensive Workshop at the renown London theatre Sadler's Wells. In 2009 Go tell the women (we're leaving) was selected for the international network Aerowaves, one of the leading contemporary dance networks of Europe. The performance also made it to the finals of the international Masdanza choreography competition on the Canary Islands, Spain. In 2011 Pia has been selected to take part in Modul Dance, an initiative by the European Dancehouse Network EDN. Modul Dance supports the development of professional dance artists by offering a selected group the opportunity to take part in research, residencies and co-productions. As part of Modul Dance, Pia did a research at Tanzhaus NRW in Düsseldorf and had a residency at The Place in London.
