Erwin Jans studied German filology and theatre studies at the Catholic University in Leuven (Belgium). He has been working for several theatres and directors as a dramaturg and is currently affiliated with the ro theater in Rotterdam. Between 1993-1998 he was responsible for the multicultural programmation of the Royal Flemish Theatre in Brussels. He teaches theatre and drama at the Cultural Studies department of the University of Leuven; dramaturgy at the Erasmus Hogeschool and the University of Antwerp. As an essayist, he published many articles on theatre, literature and the multicultural society in specialised magazines and books, as well as in the newspaper Financieel Economische Tijd.
