Giannalberto de Filippis practised Chinese martial arts for 14 years, this was his first body/movement education and it represents an important root for his vision and his work about dance . In 1998 he collaborated as a dancer with the company Lyria in Brescia. In 1999 Giannalberto graduated at the London Contemporary Dance School and afterwards he studied different techniques, such as Release, Limon, Contact and Improvisation with many teachers, among them, Poul Douglas, Sasha Rubicek, Sue McLannan, Adam Benjamin, Fin Walker, Gill Clarke, Siobhan Davies, Jeremy Nelson . As a dancer he also collaborated with the company Molteni directed by Philipp Egli in Switzerland, and in Germany with Iztok Kovac (En-Knap), Martina Labontè, Mikel Aristegui and in 2003 with Sasha Waltz. As a choreographer Giannalberto presented two works in Italy and London (at The Place Theatre), “Drops of memory in 2001 and “Touching feet under the covers in 2002.
