Graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1969, specializing in acting. He began to work as a director when, as a third-year , he directed The Respectable Wedding by B. Brecht. He directed Brecht, Garcia-Lorca, and Apuleius on the small stage of the Satire Theatre. He graduated from the Higher Courses for Directors at the Russian Academy of Theatre Art (RATI) in 1979. He created the experimental studio Theatre, and works as actor and director at the OKOLO Theatre. He has given master-classes on biomechanics in Austria, Germany, USA, Holland, France and Great Britain. Among Levinsky’s productions are Moliere’s The Miser and George Dandin.
