Walter Gore (1910 – 1979) came from a theatrical family and was a child actor before training as a dancer. He performed with the Ballet Club/ Ballet Rambert between 1930 and 1950 returning as a guest artist in 1961. From 1938 he choreographed for the company and during the first year of the 1939-45 War effectively directed the Company. After leaving Rambert in 1950 he had a peripatetic existence running companies in Australia, Great Britain and Portugal and creating works world-wide.
