Diese Festschrift erscheint zur Verleihung des Deutschen Tanzpreises an Nele Hertling. Sie versammelt Texte von Künstler*innen und Wegbegleiter*innen ihrer Arbeit, ein Interview mit der Preisträgerin und einen Text zu ihrer Biografie.

Mit dem Deutschen Tanzpreis wird eine überragende Persönlichkeit des Tanzes in Deutschland geehrt. Das künstlerische Schaffen der Choreograf*innen und Tänzer*innen steht im Mittelpunkt, gleichwohl können auch Persönlichkeiten der Pädagogik, Publizistik, Wissenschaft oder anderer Bereiche des Tanzschaffens vorgeschlagen werden. 

Für das Jahr 2018 hat eine international besetzte Jury die Dramaturgin und Kulturmanagerin Nele Hertling zur Preisträgerin gewählt. Die Preisverleihung findet am 22. September 2018 im Aalto-Theater Essen statt. Die Laudatio aufNele Hertling hält die Choreografin und Musiktheaterregisseurin Reinhild Hoffmann.

Begründet durch den Deutschen Berufsverband für Tanzpädagogik, wurde der Preis erstmalig 1983 verliehen. Seit 2018 wird der Deutsche Tanzpreis vom Dachverband Tanz Deutschland ausgerichtet. 

Schirmherr ist Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, Präsident des Deutschen Bundestages a.D.

This Festschrift is being published to mark the presentation of the German Dance Award to Nele Hertling. lt contains a variety of texts by artists and companions of her work, an interview with the awardee herself and a brief biography. 

The German Dance Award honours an outstanding personality on the German dance scene. Although the focus is on the artistic work of the choreographers and dancers, personalities who have made dance-related contributions in the fields of education, journalism, science or other areas of dance may also be nominated. 

The international jury has chosen dramaturge and cultural manager Nele Hertling as the recipient of the 2018 award. The award ceremony will be held at the Aalto Theatre in Essen on 22 September 2018. The laudatory speech for Nele Hertling will be given by choreographer and musical theatre director Reinhild Hoffmann. 

Established by the Deutscher Berufsverband für Tanzpädagogik (German Professional Association for Dance Education), the prize was first awarded in 1983. In 2018, the Dachverband Tanz Deutschland took over responsibility for organizing the German Dance Award. 

Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, former President of the German Bundestag, is the patron of the event.
