not only FUTURISTS

Autorenschaft
Beschreibung

Music theatre project with the aim of staging the poetry, manifestos and the other writings of the Italian, Russian and Polish Futurists from the early 20th century (as well as the anti-Futurist writer, S.I. Witkiewicz, from the same period). Recreating the revolutionary spirit of their original performances was, however, only a starting point to have a much closer look at our contemporary times through the 'prism' of the Futurists' often radical ideology and aesthetics.

The show is a winner of Amsterdam Fringe Festival, 2015.

Spoken, shouted, whispered, hissed, murmured and transformed in any other possible way, voices of four musicians/actors/dancers are caught in a neck-breaking, fast-paced action with a never ending flow of sudden changes and unexpected turns. Along with the "prepared" pianist, using electronics, the jazz drummer and the two live electronics players (playing on their, specifically constructed for this occasion, stage machines, as well as the other self-built instruments), they are all entangled in a stream of events, contrasting explorations of the limits of sound and space, stretching the form of the whole to the maximum.

"Technology is an art the same way as painting, sculpture and architecture are!"

Speed, technology, experiment, revolt! A complete roller coaster experience for the audience, with the Futurism (and the recreation of their early, scandalous performances) being only a pretext to have a closer look at our society.
