Beschreibung

Folk Piece An associative stream of pictures that freely and easily combines singing, text fragments and simple situations. A small form inspired by voice band, cabaret and grotesques. The three-actor voice band on a small podium with no demands as to climax, punchline or literality represents a possible fulfilment of the theatrical imagination.

He currently appears in Czech theatres from the National Theatre to the Studio Hrdinů.

Miloslav König (1984) Studied acting at DAMU and has worked in theatres from the National Theatre to basement spaces. Masopust Theatre Company: Masopust, whose name comes from the Czech word for the Lent carnival, is an independent theatre that has existed since 2008. It focuses on difficult, often poetic tests. During the renovation of the Divadlo Na zábradlí, where Masopust had a permanent stage in the Eliadova knihovna, Masopust has a temporary home in the Divadlo Komedie.

More than anything else, Folk Piece is something like absurd and abstract theatre poetry (…) It does not deny that it is a cheerful little curio, put together using copy-paste out of various snippets of text and deliberately incongruous actions. Instructions on how to behave so as to make the proper impression on those around us, absurdities and ponderings on the film Titanic, to the skimpy red knickers that Kern, out of nowhere, but to general alarm, pulls out of his colleague’s pocket. The three actors spend most of the time huddled together on a tiny podium, here and there striking a scenic pose, at other times pushing their shy colleague forward to the microphone. It all ends with the two gentlemen literally piling on Uhlířová in the corner. Yes, it was demented. I found it great fun. Let’s have more demented theatre, please.

Vladimír Mikulka, nadivadlo.blogspot.cz

This is theatre packed full of energy, with charismatic actors and a precisely-constructed production. It is playful, but not pointless, amusing, but not pandering, stimulating but not hand-holding. True “folklore of internal corruption”.
