Erik Satie

Beschreibung

The production it brings to Pilsen is inspired by the compositions and eccentric writings of French musical visionary Erik Satie. The production takes the form of a collage of tones, words and crumpled-up ideas. Little windows and various other openings appear in the lage paper screen, becoming tiny stages for the humour and music of Erik Satie.

Johannes Volkmann’s Papiertheater has existed in Nuremberg for ten years, creating auteur productions with minimum staging requirements. Paper always plays the main role, and scissors are the most faithful member of the company. The productions are created together with various other artists – in this case the Debussy Trio Munich. The three musicians, Bettinu Fuchs, Gunter Pretzel a Rosmarie Schmidt-Münster, were originally brought together by Debussy’s Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp. Their fascination with Debussy’s onomatopoeia led them to embark on a joint quest for other musical literature.
