MEDIATHEK

The sensitive dreamer Laid in the Algerian Mediterranean town of Bejaia. He spends his days in a photo studio and on the beach with his friend Nadir. One day he is asked by his sister to return to Timimoun and, as the eldest, restore the family's honour. Nadir offers to accompany him on the evening's adventurous journey into the Algerian hinterland. 

The feature film by Michael Roes, who is one of the most important German-language authors of the present ("Rub' Al-Khali - Empty Quarter"), tells of the friendship of two boys as a utopia in a torn country marked by religious and political tensions. The novel "Weg nach Timimoun" (Matthes & Seitz, Berlin) was also based on the film.
