Within the limits of the sparsely decorated stage (which could be both the globe, the Sahara desert, or a pub where the demi-monde rubs shoulders), a mosaic develops between the player and his puppets - hybrid figures which are on the one hand too frail to be human, on the other too spiritual to belong to the realm of animals.
