“Since the beginning in 1998 site-specific designs have been the mainstay of work for Bambuco. Almost all the images you see here on this website are site-specific installations. Building a large-scale bamboo installation is exciting and hard physical work, but it is also stressful. Sure, we have a 1:20 scale model to use as a construction blueprint and our engineers have declared it sound, but to turn that model into reality is a challenge. On the other side of the ledger, we have many years of experience and that has prepared us for the fact that a site-specific installation is the sharp end of bamboo installation. It is often an extreme exercise in problem solving.”
