Information

An international theatre studio focusing on the creation and development of and research into human expression. It defines itself using the relationships between me – you, body, voice, culture – nature, public – intimacy, research – creation. It seeks to articulate physically what cannot be expressed in words or any other medium. It finds inspiration in the irregular terrains of music, the torsos of culture, human contact, the architecture of space and personal testimony. The group expresses itself in relation to issues that are personally and socially important to its members. It works under the leadership of its founder, director Viliam Dočolomanský. Farm in the Cave’s work encompasses not only the creation of productions, but also educative activity, basic research into the actor’s art and into the art of selected cultural minorities. The studio first took shape in 2001 during preparations for the project Lorca in Prague. The name Farm in the Cave is a literal translatio of the Arab word daimuz, the name given to Lorca’s family farm. Farm in the Cave has won a number of prestigious international and Czech awards.
