Markó, Iván (b Balassagyarmat, 29 Mar. 1947). Hungarian dancer, choreographer, and company director. He studied dance at the State Ballet Institute in Budapest, graduating in 1967. He joined the Budapest Opera Ballet Company and from 1972 to 1979 danced with Béjart's Ballet of the 20th Century. In 1979 he returned to Hungary and founded the Györ Ballet, for whom he made many works. He left the company in 1991. In 1996 he founded the Budapest-based Hungarian Festival Ballet.
